As the Swedish Allsvenskan resumes this week, decisions must be made and while the AIK organization has been on a low profile, it seems like at the moment chances are high that Henok Goitom may end up going back to the team he left last season after securing the player of the year award in the Swedish Premier league. The team has announced that current leading scorer Carlos Strandberg who was on loan from the Russian club CSKA Moscow just before the Allsvenskan season started in the spring of 2016. His final day to remain with AIK was slated for July 18 which is this Sunday when AIK takes on first place Malmo FF which could make it his last game for the team. He currently leads the team in scoring with seven goals. CSKA Moscow are looking forward to have him back which would open up a spot for another forward.
Meanwhile young Eritrean-Swede Alexander Isak will more than likely remain with AIK as he has been touted by many top teams in Europe including in the British premier league as well as the Italian Serie A. Eri-International sport has also learned that officials at AIK have indicated that Henok Goitom may be returning to AIK as he has been training with the team for the past two months. AIK takes on Malmo on Sunday July 17th, 2016.
We will follow the developments of the team as they move forward. As of now AIK Solna also known as Stockholm will have major contributions from Eritreans. The Allsvenskan meanwhile has other Swedish citizen of Eritrean origin playing and coaching throughout the country. We hope they can help develop the Eritrean national team program along with players from other parts of the world.
